The 9 players set to miss Southampton v Birmingham City ft £7m striker Damion Downs
Southampton host Birmingham City at St Mary's on Saturday afternoon, with caretaker manager Tonda Eckert surely hoping his side can bounce back from their 3-2 defeat to Millwall.
Before last weekend’s loss in Bermondsey, Saints’ temporary manager had overseen a remarkable revival in form since taking over from Will Still, winning his opening four matches at the helm, and he's likely to land the job on a permanent basis.
However, with several players unavailable through injury, Eckert faces a stern test against a resurgent Birmingham City side that have four wins from six themselves – and sit one point out of the play-off places in eighth.

“All our success is based on a very proactive mentality towards the game. It would be detrimental for us to change and move too far away from that. That said, the objective of football is to win matches, so it is necessary to understand the challenges we face, to be compact, to know how to choose the right moments to press aggressively and to keep in mind that, away from home, there will be more moments when we need to be a little more compact, as it is not possible to press the ball all the time. Getting all of that right is the challenge.”

Chris Davies: Birmingham City boss says his side have to try to "be themselves" away from home
Birmingham City "might never be the same team away from home" but are showing signs their form on the road is improving says manager Chris Davies.
Blues go to Southampton on Saturday (15:00 GMT) having picking up just eight points from a possible 27 away games.
Only Watford, Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth – the latter two being in the bottom three – have picked up fewer points on their travels.
Blues' away record is in stark contrast to their superb efforts at St Andrew's with only runaway leaders Coventry City able to better their six wins and 21 goals.
Davies said the last two away performances – a 2-1 defeat by Middlesbrough and a 1-1 derby draw with West Bromwich Albion – have been encouraging.
