Leclerc says brother’s FP1 run ‘only positive’ on Friday

‘It’s small margins and I just fell the wrong side of it’ – Albon on his Q1 exit

Charles Leclerc enjoyed a "special moment" as brother Arthur joined him on track in the other Ferrari for the first practice hour at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc hailed his younger brother Arthur’s Free Practice 1 appearance at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as a “very special moment”, with the Monegasque suggesting that it was the “only positive” from Friday after another tough outing for Ferrari.

For the second year in a row, the Leclerc siblings participated in the opening practice hour at the Yas Marina Circuit as 25-year-old Arthur fulfilled the Scuderia’s final mandated rookie outing of the campaign.

Three drivers on duty

FP1 was very special for me. Seeing my younger brother behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car with the Scuderia, and sharing the track with him for a practice session is something we dreamed of together since we were kids and it put a smile on my face.
In terms of driving, it was a tricky Friday for us overall. We are missing something and are pushing to find where we can improve to be further ahead in tomorrow’s qualifying.

It was great to see Arthur in the car this afternoon in FP1 and I was feeling good coming into FP2. The car proved challenging to drive and there is some work to do ahead of tomorrow to improve the feeling with the car. We’ll review the data tonight and work on the areas that can help us make a step forward for tomorrow’s sessions.

Arthur Leclerc's cheeky dig at Charles Leclerc's Abu Dhabi FP1 error

Sharing the track with brother Charles for the second time on a grand prix weekend, Arthur Leclerc had a cheeky dig when he noticed his grand prix-winning brother spin late in FP1.

The two Leclerc brothers laid down the laps in FP1 at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix when Arthur, now known as ‘Leclerc Junior’ replaced Lewis Hamilton for the session.

The 25-year-old completed the last of Ferrari’s four mandatory young driver outings for the F1 2025 season.

Running on track behind his teammate and brother, ‘Leclerc Junior’ saw Leclerc spin at Turn 5 as he turned his attention to race-pace on the soft tyres.
