Rebecca Park bio mom and stepfather charged with murder first degree, torture and more
Cortney and Brad Bartholomew, biological mother and stepfather of Rebecca Park, are each facing eight charges each including murder in the first degree, torture and assault of a pregnant individual.
The two appeared Tuesday in Wexford County’s 84th District Court after Monday’s hearing was delayed, with both held without bond due to the seriousness of the case.
Judge Corey Wiggins said Brad is a fourth offender and will be held without bond.
“We will go ahead and set up for arraignment tomorrow. The court in the meantime will hold Mr. Bartholomew without a bond. I do find that he is both a threat and a flight risk based on what I’ve read in search warrants. As such, we’ll reconvene tomorrow, see where we are at," said Hon. Corey Wiggins- 84th District Court.
Mother, stepdad arrested after 38 weeks pregnant woman found dead, baby still missing
BOON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (Gray News) – The mother and stepfather of a woman who went missing while she was 38 weeks pregnant have been arrested after she was found dead.
Rebecca Park, 22, was found dead at Manistee National Forest last week, just three days after she was due to give birth. An autopsy confirmed that she was no longer pregnant.
“The Wexford County Sheriff’s Office, along with multiple law enforcement agencies, is working diligently to determine the condition and potential whereabouts of the baby,” Wexford County Sheriff Trent Taylor said in a statement to People.
Park was last seen on Nov. 3 at her mother’s home in Boon Township, Michigan.

Mom, stepdad charged in Rebecca Park's death; baby dead
Authorities say two family members did their research and created a plan before they brought 22-year-old Rebecca Park into their home, put her into a car and then took her to an area in the northern Michigan woods — where they forced her on the ground and stabbed her as they cut her baby out of her womb, ultimately causing both of their deaths.
Then, the pair left her there, Wexford County Prosecutor Johanna Carey said during an arraignment on Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Cadillac of Cortney Bartholomew, 40, and Bradly Bartholomew, 47.
The pair, described by the Cadillac News as Park's biological mother and stepfather, were charged with the following: one count of first-degree premeditated murder and one count of felony murder in connection with Park's death, torture in a place of confinement, conspiracy to commit torture, assault of a pregnant woman with the intention to cause miscarriage or stillbirth, conspiracy to commit that assault and unlawful imprisonment. Both were additionally charged with moving a dead body.
