Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers adamant about playing despite multiple fractures in left wrist

Aaron Rodgers is off the injury report and starting Sunday against the Bills, but there's an added ironman element to his ability to take the field.

Rodgers actually has at least three fractures in his left wrist, but he's been adamant about playing after missing last week's narrow 31-28 loss to the Bears, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning.

Rapoport added Rodgers' teammates have been impressed with the quarterback's resolve.

Despite the injury, Rodgers logged two full practices to end the week, after which head coach Mike Tomlin said all systems were go for Week 13. The upcoming matchup against Buffalo comes with enormous stakes. Following the Ravens' Thanksgiving loss to the Bengals, Pittsburgh has a chance to open up a game lead over Baltimore in the AFC North ahead of playing each other in Week 14, the first of two matchups between the clubs remaining this season.

Report: Aaron Rodgers has "at least" three fractures in left wrist

Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will play on Sunday against the Bills, despite a fracture in his left wrist.

Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Rodgers has at least three fractures in his non-throwing wrist, suffered two weeks ago against the Bengals. None, per the report, are displaced. As reported on NBC’s Football Night in America at the time, Rodgers wanted to keep playing during the game in which it happened. He wanted to play last week. Finally, he’s getting his wish today.

The easy talking point is that teammates are impressed that a football player wants to play football despite having a football injury. The more subtle observation is that the situation underscores the inside-information problem in pro sports.

Week 13 Injury Report (Bills)

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was a full participant in practice for the second straight day and has no designation on the injury report today.

Coach Mike Tomlin said Rodgers is 'all systems go' for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills at Acrisure Stadium.

"He was a full participant today with no designation for the game," said Tomlin. "So, it's all systems go."

Rodgers suffered a broken wrist in the team's Week 11 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, missing the second half of that game and last week's game against the Chicago Bears.

Tomlin said it was the amount of work Rodgers was able to do this week that made him a go.
