Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green did not start for the Razorbacks for Saturday’s game against Mizzou. After struggling in recent weeks and while currently dealing with a minor hamstring issue, interim HC Bobby Petrino decided to start freshman signal caller KJ Jackson.

It’s not hard to see why Arkansas when with Jackson in this spot for the Razorbacks. Arkansas has lost 9 straight, and Green put together 2 of his worst games of the season across the past few weeks against LSU and Texas. Green combined to throw 0 touchdowns, 3 interceptions and just 283 passing yards against the Tigers and Longhorns. To make things even worse, Green has thrown for just 1 touchdown and 6 interceptions across his last 5 games.

KJ Jackson to start at quarterback over Taylen Green for Arkansas football vs. Missouri

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas backup quarterback KJ Jackson will get the start for the Razorbacks against Missouri on Saturday at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

Taylen Green, who started every game for Arkansas (2-9, 0-7 SEC) before the finale against the Tigers, will be on the bench. Green had started 24 consecutive games for the Razorbacks before the Senior Day matchup Saturday.

Both Green and Jackson went through pregame warmups, but Jackson took reps with the first-team offense.

Jackson, a redshirt freshman out of Montgomery, Alabama, replaced Green in the third quarter of Arkansas’ 52-37 loss at Texas last week after Green threw his second interception of the game.

Bobby Petrino’s quarterback plan may raise bigger Arkansas questions

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas enters its regular-season finale with Bobby Petrino considering something he openly dislikes — using two quarterbacks.

He admitted the idea is under evaluation after KJ Jackson played well in relief last week, even as he repeated that he has never been a big believer in rotating quarterbacks.

No, he shouldn't be playing two quarterbacks in this game. There is no reason for Taylen Green to see the field because his time is done.

All of that just that creates a bigger question about this game. With Green not returning next year, and Petrino very unlikely to stay on as head coach, why is there even a discussion about splitting snaps?
