D/ST road map: Ranking the best defenses to stream for the rest of the season

It's nearly fantasy football playoff time, and you know what that means: Squeezing every ounce of production you can out of each lineup slot.

That couldn't be truer than at the team defense/special teams (D/ST) slot, where strategy weighs far greater than raw skill or talent on paper. If you're a believer in the "go with the guys who got you there" approach, you can go with the top three D/STs for the season: the Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns. But if you're not one of the lucky few fantasy managers who happened to land one of those units, or if your aim is to maximize the output from your D/ST spot in these critical weeks, you've come to the right place.

Fantasy Football Week 13 Defense (DST) Rankings and Streamers

We’re starting to find a bit of a consistent groove of late, after another week with six of the top 10 correct. Some of those picks, like the Browns, Ravens, and Patriots were not entirely bold calls. However, I was one of the few people to rank the Saints inside the top 10, and they finished with 11 points as they 7th-ranked defense on the week.

The other big win was that I kept the Rams and Texans in tier two despite them having matchups that put them outside the top 10 consensus rankings. The Rams finished as the #1 defense, and the Texans were 6th. It’s just another reminder that really good defenses should just stay in your lineup because, at worst, they provide a safe floor. As of now, I think those two defenses, plus the Browns, Patriots, and Broncos, are probably the six defenses that I’m never going to bench.

Fantasy Football Week 12 Stock Report: CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson appear to have lost their ceilings while A.J. Brown breaks out

With all but one Week 12 game in the books (Monday Night Football), we've learned a little bit more than we knew last week. Or, in some cases, thought we knew. Players impressed, players disappointed and there is fantasy football fallout to unpack.

Once again, I've compiled the full weekly fantasy football stock report below. These are the most notable risers and fallers coming out of Week 12. Invest accordingly!

Somewhere around Week 5 or 6, after a stretch of horrendous matchups and a number of games without Lamar Jackson, there was a lot of panic over Derrick Henry. And while he hasn’t quite reached the elite ceilings he has in years passed, Henry has since put those concerns to bed. He has between 18-24 carries in six straight games, has averaged 92 rushing yards per game over that span, and has scored three touchdowns in the last two weeks. Not only that, he gets to play the Bengals in Weeks 13 and 15 — so those elite ceilings may still yet come through. Henry always seems tougher late in the season, and is setting up to be a consistent RB1 into the fantasy playoffs.
