SpaceX launched a brand new Falcon 9 booster on a mission from California to deploy another batch of satellites for the company’s Starlink internet service.

Liftoff from Space Launch Complex 4E at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, occurred at 12:48 a.m. PST (3:48 a.m. EST / 0848 UTC). It was the first flight of Falcon 9 first stage B1100, the eighth new booster to join the SpaceX fleet this year.

The Falcon 9 took a south-easterly trajectory on departure from Vandenberg, following the coast of California, as it targeted an orbit inclined at 53 degrees to the Equator. B1100 successfully touched down on the drone ship ‘Of Course I Still Love You’ about eight and half minutes into the flight.

SpaceX plans weekend rocket launch at Vandenberg. Where to watch in California

For just the second time in November, SpaceX is gearing up to deploy a batch of its Starlink internet satellites from California.

If the Falcon 9 rocket gets off the ground as scheduled, more than two weeks will have elapsed since the commercial company's last Starlink mission Nov. 6 from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County. Since then, SpaceX's Falcon 9 also launched from Vandenberg to deploy NASA-designed Sentinel-6B satellites to track rising sea levels.

SpaceX has also been working toward launching a rideshare mission known as Transporter-15, which has been delayed from mid-November to Thanksgiving week.

Since Transporter-15 has been postponed, the upcoming launch will be the first since the Federal Aviation Administration rescinded a short-lived order restricting the hours of commercial launches amid the now-ended government shutdown.

SpaceX's Transporter-15 mission is poised to deliver more than 100 spacecraft to Earth orbit.

A Falcon 9 rocket will launch Transporter-15 today (Nov. 20) from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Liftoff is expected from Vandenberg's Space Launch Complex-4E during a 57-minute window that opens at 1:18 p.m. EST (1818 GMT).

Transporter-15 will deliver more than 100 satellites into a sun-synchronous orbit, where each will begin its own, individualized mission. A livestream of the launch will be available on the SpaceX Transporter-15 mission website, the company's profile on X, as well as on Space.com beginning about 15 minutes prior to liftoff.
