Ryan Dunn explains why Suns are looser this year compared to last year’s team

Winners of eight of their past 10 games, Ryan Dunn explained why this year’s Suns are gelling a lot better than last year’s Suns squad.

“I think it’s a mix of everything,” Dunn told Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo on Thursday. “To be honest with you, coaching, roster — people might even say like not having expectation on ourselves or just going down and just playing free, but I think for us, our locker room is really, really good. We all gel together.”

Dunn said this year’s team came together long before the season even started.

It started with trips out to Flagstaff — Devin Booker’s favorite hideout — shared workouts and going out to dinner and just hanging out with each other.

NBA needs to rewrite Dillon Brooks' reputation as he changes another culture

Dillon Brooks arrived to the Phoenix Suns with a reputation as the guy who went and LeBron James and failed badly while with the Memphis Grizzlies. If you have been paying attention though, you'll know that the 29-year-old hasn't acted in that way in a long time, going back to his tenure with the Houston Rockets.

It took him less than 15 games in The Valley to completely change the culture of the roster he is now a part of, and the Suns are reaping the benefits as a result. In many ways he is the physical embodiment of the defensive style that head coach Jordan Ott wants this group to play, and they are an above average defensive team as a result.

THIS Is How the Phoenix Suns Have a disruptive, top-10 defense 🔥

The Phoenix Suns didn’t stumble into a top defense — they built it. From Jordan Ott’s system tweaks to the new personnel buy-in from Devin Booker, Grayson Allen, Dillon Brooks, and the entire rotation, Phoenix has completely transformed the way they guard defensively.

They’ve also learned a great deal about various player pairings within their rotation, unlocking versatility and activity in their secondary lineups — including Jordan Goodwin.
