Michelle Obama says the country is ‘not ready for a woman’ president
Former first lady Michelle Obama said at a recent event that the US isnât ready for a woman president, pointing to former Vice President Kamala Harrisâ unsuccessful bid for the White House last year.
âAs we saw in this past election, sadly, we ainât ready,â Obama said in response to a question from actor Tracee Ellis Ross on whether there has been enough âroomâ created for a woman president.
âThatâs why Iâm like, donât even look at me about running âcause you all are lying. Youâre not ready for a woman,â Obama told Ellis Ross. âWe got a lot of growing up to do and thereâs still ⦠a lot of men who do not feel like they can be led by a woman and we saw it.â

Michelle Obama said Americans don't want a woman to be president, and that's why they shouldn't look to her to run for the nation's highest office.
"As we saw in this past election, sadly, we ain’t ready," Obama said. "That’s why I’m like, don’t even look at me about running, because you all are lying. You’re not ready for a woman. You are not."
The former first lady and wife of President Barack Obama made the comments Nov. 14 in a conversation with Tracee Ellis Ross at the Brooklyn Academy of Music promoting her new book, "The Look."
