The Tony nominee, who originated the role, is stepping into Gatsby's pink suit once again.

Broadway's The Great Gatsby welcomes a familiar face
when original star Jeremy Jordan returns to the title role of Jay Gatsby
beginning November 10 at the Broadway Theatre.

Jordan, who originated the role, succeeds Ryan McCartan, who played his final performance November 9. Jordan had left the new musical to star in the limited Broadway bow of Floyd Collins at Lincoln Center (which earned him a 2025 Tony Award nomination).

The production first shared
the news of Jordan's return on Instagram,
along with a video of Jordan and Aisha Jackson (who plays Gatsby's
paramour Daisy Buchanan) performing a mashup of "My Green Light" from
the show and pop singer Lorde's "Green Light."

Ryan McCartan took his final bow in The Great Gatsby on Broadway on Sunday, November 9. After his final show, director Marc Bruni spoke to the audience about McCartan's final show.

"You came into this process with an open heart and a desire to make this part your own. You have dreamed Gatsby‘s impossible dream every night with intelligence and wit and heart and sarcasm and pathos and a voice that just about brings the house down every night. Thank you for all of it."

Starting tonight, November 10, Jeremy Jordan will return as Jay Gatsby in the hit Broadway musical. Jordan originated the role of Jay Gatsby when the production opened on Broadway in April 2024. He played the role through Sunday, January 19, 2025 before taking on his Tony-nominated performance in Floyd Collins.

Jeremy Jordan Returns to The Great Gatsby on Broadway Tonight

Welcome back, old sport! Jeremy Jordan returns as Jay Gatsby in Broadway’s The Great Gatsby on November 10 at the Broadway Theatre. He originated the role in 2024 and succeeds Ryan McCartan, who has played the titular literary character since Jordan’s last appearance in the show on January 19.

Jordan joins current cast members Michael Maliakel as Nick Carraway, Aisha Jackson as Daisy Buchanan, Samantha Pauly as Jordan Baker, Linedy Genao as Myrtle Wilson, Eric Anderson as Wolfsheim, Austin Colby as Tom Buchanan and Charlie Pollock as George Wilson.

The musical reimagines F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Jazz Age novel about wealth, longing and illusion, centering on Jay Gatsby’s pursuit of his lost love, Daisy Buchanan, amid the glitter and chaos of the Roaring ‘20s. Directed by Marc Bruni, The Great Gatsby features a book by Kait Kerrigan, music and lyrics by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen and choreography by Dominique Kelley.
