ATLANTA – The North Georgia mountains can expect to see more than just flurries as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. on Tuesday.
Snow accumulations of up to one inch are anticipated for portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Georgia. Locally higher snow accumulations may be possible at elevations higher than 2,000 feet. Wind gusts could be as high as 35 miles per hour.

Snow falls in North Georgia mountains as Arctic blast hits metro Atlanta
A few flurries speckled the skies in the north part of metro Atlanta on Monday afternoon amid the region’s first freezing temperatures of the season.
It is so cold that a winter weather advisory is in effect across portions of the state’s northern half until 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The agency issues such advisories when any combination of snow, ice or sleet is expected, but conditions shouldn’t be hazardous enough to issue a warning.
Snow started dusting the trees atop Brasstown Bald, Georgia’s highest peak, around noon Monday. It’s already the second time this year that snow fell on the mountain, the first happening Nov. 3. Schools in nearby Fannin County released students early Monday.

ATLANTA — Snow flurries have been reported across the north Georgia mountains Monday.
The 11Alive Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Atlanta's first sub-freezing temperatures of the fall to arrive in Atlanta Tuesday morning, November 11th (Veteran's Day). The cold will be felt all day Monday as it settles in.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for the following counties: Towns, Gilmer, Dawson, Murray, Union, Lumpkin, White, and Fannin.
