Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas may be heading to a new home port

Royal Caribbean just released its newest lineup of year-round Caribbean cruises from three Florida ports for the 2027/2028 cruise season. And one popular cruise ship was noticeably absent: Icon of the Seas.

The first in Royal Caribbean’s revolutionary Icon Class, Icon of the Seas has sailed seven-night Caribbean cruises from Miami since its launch in January 2024. The ship’s absence from the latest deployment release could mean that its iconic run from Miami will come to an end in spring 2027.

Where could Icon of the Seas be headed and what ship could take its place in Miami? Here’s what may be about to happen as Royal Caribbean expands both its fleet and its collection of exclusive destinations in 2027.

Royal Caribbean to Deploy 5 Ships Year-Round from Florida in 2027-28

Royal Caribbean International revealed year-round cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas departing from Miami, Port Canaveral and Tampa starting in 2027-28.

According to a press release, passengers can choose from a lineup of two- to eight-night itineraries onboard five ships, including the Star of the Seas.

After entering service earlier this year, the second Icon-class vessel will continue offering seven-night cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas departing from Port Canaveral.

The 250,800-ton ship will mark Royal Caribbean’s return to the port of Samaná in the Dominican Republic as part of its series of weeklong cruises to the Western and Eastern Caribbean.

Royal Caribbean adds more cruises to book in 2027 and 2028

Royal Caribbean has posted more cruises to book around the Caribbean through April 2028.

As part of its scheduled deployment release, we now have new sailings that encompass 7-night and Short Caribbean year round sailings.

These are new sailings on ships that spend all year sailing from a Florida homeport, including 3, 4, and 7-night cruises.

A total of five cruise ships are included in this week's deployment release, and they are arguably the bread and butter of the cruise industry.  The ships and itineraries new cruisers and vacationers look typically look for first because they are the quintessential tropical cruise.

Here's a closer look at what's been posted, and what we can expect next.
