NBA Power Rankings: Most impactful newcomers on all 30 teams
We're about three weeks into the 2025-26 NBA regular season, with the annual NBA Cup already underway after tipping off on Halloween night.
In the East, the Chicago Bulls have jumped to a surprising hot start, going 6-1 and in an early standings race with the Philadelphia 76ers, who seemed to have shaken their injury bug from last season.
In the West, the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder have proved why continuity will serve them well this season. They remain the only undefeated team left. The Los Angeles Lakers, still without LeBron James, are 6-2. This is the best eight-game stretch his NBA team has had without him in the lineup.
Power Rankings, Week 3: Rockets, Bucks soar; OKC still leads way
Milwaukee and Houston move into the Top 10, while unbeaten Oklahoma City remains an easy choice at No. 1.
The Thunder remain the league’s only unbeaten team after defeating the Pelicans, tying their franchise record with a 7-0 start.
No championship hangover. No issues with the absence of Jalen Williams … or Chet Holmgren. They have the league’s No. 1 defense, once again.
The champs are 7-0, with the point differential (despite a couple of close calls) of a team that would finish with 71 wins.
But the Bulls and Sixers are tied for first place in the East?

The brightly colored court portion of the NBA season is underway, so I guess it’s time to start being serious and say something about these teams.
Last month, I analyzed starters and depth for every team. Now that we have some regular-season games to work with, we can see how each team prefers to line up.
With that said, it is still early in the season. Teams are playing well that haven’t been hit with adversity yet. Teams are playing far below expectations that will have a chance to click within the next month or two. Two weeks is about the length of a playoff series. Rankings over the next few weeks will be volatile as we increase the sample.
