Lakers rule out Doncic, Reaves vs. Trail Blazers
Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves are both being held out of the lineup against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, the Los Angeles Lakers announced, one day after the pair played nearly 40 minutes apiece in a 130-120 win over the Miami Heat.
The Lakers are managing Doncic on the second night of a back-to-back after he played 77 total minutes in his last two games following an early return from his leg contusion and a sprained finger on his left hand, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Doncic is listed on the injury report with lower left leg contusion management — the same issue that caused him to miss three games last week. Reaves, who had not missed a game yet this season, is on the injury report with right groin soreness. He played 38 minutes in Sunday's win.

The Lakers will be without both Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves in Monday’s meeting with the Blazers.
After picking up a win over the Heat on Sunday, the Lakers appear to be effectively punting the second night of the back-to-back on Monday. Hours before the game, the team announced that both Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves would be out.
Deandre Ayton, who missed Sunday’s game with back spasms, is questionable. Maxi Kleber, who has not made his regular season debut yet for the Lakers, was upgraded to questionable.
The lower left leg contusion that Luka is listed out with was one of the injuries that led to him missing nearly a week of games. Austin, meanwhile, has not been listed on the injury report with any sort of groin soreness this year. However, Dan Woike of The Athletic noted that it is an injury he played through against the Heat.

It’s the second night of a back-to-back for Los Angeles, which defeated Miami on Sunday to improve to 5-2 on the season.
Doncic missed three games last week due to the leg injury as well as a left finger sprain. This will be his fourth missed game.
As for Reaves, this will be his first absence of the 2025/26 campaign. A source tells Dan Woike of The Athletic (Twitter link) that the 27-year-old played through the groin issue on Sunday and the team is hopeful that it isn’t serious.
