Kerry King Picks Metallica Over Megadeth: "Metallica Has a Singer. Sorry, Dave!"
Slayer’s Kerry King was asked to choose between two of his fellow “Big 4” thrash-metal bands, and not only did the guitarist pick Metallica over Megadeth, he worked in a zinger about Dave Mustaine’s vocal abilities.
At the end of an interview with host Vanessa B of the YouTube series Reigning TV, King and Mark Osegueda (singer for both Death Angel and King’s eponymous band) were challenged with choosing between a number of bands and musicians.
Prior to being asked “Metallica or Megadeth,” the pair were presented with “James Hetfield or Dave Mustaine?,” with Osegueda immediately saying, “Het!,” and King adding, “James Hetfied. Sorry, Dave, I know I played in your band, but I’m going with James.”
'Brutally honest' Kerry King chooses Metallica over Megadeth
Slayer's Kerry King is fanning the flames of the long-simmering rivalry between Metallica and Megadeth.
The "Raining Blood" shredder places himself firmly on team 'Tallica in an interview with his record label, Reigning Phoenix Music.
When asked to pick between James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine, King chooses the "Enter Sandman" singer, adding, "Sorry Dave, I know I played in your band, but I'm going with James."
King briefly played in Megadeth in 1984. Mustaine, of course, formed Megadeth in 1983 after he was fired from Metallica.
After ranking Hetfield over Mustaine, King was then asked to choose between Metallica and Megadeth as a whole. Once again, he takes the Metallica side.

Slayer's Kerry King Weighs In On The Enduring Metallica & Megadeth Rivalry
As Metallica launch their Australian tour, and Megadeth prepare their final album, Slayer's Kerry King has shared his opinion on the thrash metal icons.
In a world full of binary choices, music fans have long loved to put two pillars of the industry head-to-head. Whether it’s Blur vs. Oasis or The Beatles vs. The Rolling Stones, there have always been varied opinions at the heart of it all.
Now, Slayer guitarist Kerry King has weighed in on one of the most intense musical feuds of all time: Metallica vs. Megadeth.
The origins of the feud are well-known, with future Megadeth founder Dave Mustaine being Metallica’s founding guitarist back in 1981. Shortly before the recording of their 1983 debut album, Kill ‘Em All, Mustaine was booted from the group due to his drug and alcohol abuse, with Kirk Hammett coming onboard to replace him.
