Trail Blazers' Deni Avdija: Rolls to 33-point night

Avdija produced 33 points (10-20 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 10-11 FT), six rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 36 minutes during Monday's 123-115 loss to the Lakers.

Avdija posted his first 30-point showing of the 2025-26 season and managed to get back on track defensively after failing to record either a block or steal in his last game Friday against the Nuggets. However, it wasn't quite enough to secure a victory against a short-handed LA squad. Avdija has continued to impress to open the year, averaging 24.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists over his last five appearances.

Deni Avdija Is Breaking Out For The Blazers

During the later stages of last season, Portland Trail Blazers forward Deni Avdija began exploring his own game.

The 6'9 forward would create looks for himself with far higher regularity, act as a primary playmaker, and do all of that while maintaining his rebounding focus, and sharpening both his handle, and outside shot.

It's clear what type of player he wanted to become: An all-around wing, who can play in virtually every system, and act as both an on-ball and off-ball threat.

Well, fortunately for him, that vision seems to have been proven realistic.

Avdija is netting 22.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on the young season, while having improved the volume of his three-point shot, and upped his free throw rate.
