Game Preview: San Antonio Spurs vs. Miami Heat

The Spurs look to establish a historic win streak against the red hot Heat.

After a few days of rest, the San Antonio Spurs will try to get off to the franchise’s best start to a season, winning five straight games. They’ll face their biggest challenge yet in a similarly hot Miami Heat squad. The Heat have won three consecutive games and lead the league in points per game. The Spurs are statistically the best defense in the league. We’ll see what happens when great offense meets great defense on Thursday night.

The Spurs will once again be short-handed, as De’Aaron Fox, Jeremy Sochan, Luke Kornet, and Kelly Olynyk are all out with injuries. The Heat is similarly hobbled, as it’ll be without All-Star guard Tyler Herro and new acquisition Norman Powell. Both teams have fared just fine without key contributors. The Heat are coming off a 144-117 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night.

Heat vs. Spurs Prediction, Odds and Best NBA Prop Bets for Thursday, Oct. 30

Through the first week of the NBA season, the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs are two of the best teams in the league, ranking No. 1 (San Antonio) and No. 3 (Miami) in net rating.

Both squads are doing it without All-Star guards in the lineup. De’Aaron Fox (hamstring) has yet to play this season for San Antonio while Tyler Herro (foot) is likely out until mid-November for Miami.

Oddsmakers have the Spurs favored in Thursday’s showdown, as Victor Wembanyama is playing at an MVP level through four games, leading the Spurs to a perfect 4-0 start.

However, the Heat have debuted a new offense with way less pick-and-roll action, and it’s helped them post one of the best offensive ratings in the league.

Brand new Victor Wembanyama has ultimate chance to squash a growing pest

Heading into a matchup with the Miami Heat on Thursday night, there is a lot at stake. Both squads are red hot and looking to extend their respective winning streaks. The Spurs have used Victor Wembanyama's colossal start to earn four straight victories; meanwhile, the Heat are streaking with three wins of their own.

While there are many talking points in this high-intensity matchup, perhaps the biggest of them comes in the form of Kel'el Ware. The Miami big man has been quite successful against the Spurs and will look to keep the momentum going as he faces San Antonio once again. However, Wembanyama would like to have a word.
