Is Xbox down? Thousands of users report issues with server connection
Gamers have reported issues with Xbox’s server and store connection today (October 29), including Xbox Live along with other Microsoft apps and services also having problems.
On Downdetector, at around 4.14pm, a peak of more than 1,000 users reported issues with using Xbox.
It appears 72% of the reports were due to 'server connection', while 22% were due to 'purchase'.
Over on X, this person posted: "I legitimately brought an Xbox today to play halo and it's down. What are the chances."
Users should once again be able to access Game Streaming and Xbox Storefronts. Thank you for your patience while we addressed this issue.
Xbox Live is Currently Down for All Users
Xbox Live is currently down for many Xbox users on all fronts, like Xbox Game Pass and even the support page. The outage comes at an inconvenient time, as Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds 2 is in the middle of its launch today. As for what the cause is, it looks to be an Azure service outage, as Obsidian Support has mentioned in a tweet.
Outages for Xbox Live are rare, but when they happen, it causes a lot of problems for many players. Without access to the internet, you can’t play multiplayer, purchase items, or download anything. So, when it goes down, it’s a big deal. Unfortunately, it just so happened to shut down today with The Outer Worlds 2 and Battlefield: REDSEC starting up.

Xbox Live Is Down
Microsoft platforms are having some server problems today, and Xbox is no exception. A large variety of Xbox services rely on server access, from playing games online to its suite of online multimedia features. The latest issues follow in the wake of last week's Amazon Web Services outages, which likewise caused widespread issues with Internet services.
Xbox servers are currently down for thousands of users, as indicated by current reports on DownDetector. Microsoft Azure reported DNS issues starting at noon, but details of the reasons behind the outage haven't yet been clarified. More information will be provided soon, after which a solution will hopefully follow.
