Peyton Manning's Last NFL Loss is Remarkable Chiefs-Related Story

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Peyton Manning won’t be able to shake it when he joins his brother and Billy Bob Thornton for another ManningCast on Monday.

It was in Denver on Nov. 15, 2015, and Alex Smith was under center for the Chiefs. On his way to the Hall of Fame, Manning finished 200-89 as a starter. But his last career loss was nearly his last career game.

“I remember it well,” Smith recalled on Sunday NFL Countdown of the Chiefs’ 29-13 win, “because it didn't really happen often, man. I got my butt kicked by Peyton so many times. But nice to get at least one. He did go on to the Super Bowl.”

Jets Legend Nick Mangold, 41, Passes Away Due to Complications from Kidney Disease

Nick Mangold, the Jets' celebrated center and one of the all-time greats to wear the Green & White during and after his playing career, passed away from complications of kidney disease Saturday night. He was 41.

"Nick was more than a legendary center," said Jets Chairman Woody Johnson. "He was the heartbeat of our offensive line for a decade and a beloved teammate whose leadership and toughness defined an era of Jets football. Off the field, Nick's wit, warmth, and unwavering loyalty made him a cherished member of our extended Jets family."

Mangold recently posted a letter on social media that detailed his battle with kidney disease that, "atter a rough summer," required him to undergo dialysis treatments.

Aaron Glenn: Nick Mangold was the heart and soul of the Jets

Sunday’s game in Cincinnati ended with a Jets celebration, but the day began on a more somber note.

Longtime Jets center Nick Mangold died at the age of 41 after battling kidney disease and head coach Aaron Glenn took some time to talk about Mangold at the start of his postgame press conference. Glenn did not play for the Jets at the same time as Mangold, but he was in the organization during Mangold’s 11 years with the team and he said Mangold was a vital member of the organization.

“I didn’t play with him, but I was here as a scout when he was playing and he was the heart and soul of the team,” Glenn said. “He had a number of kids and it’s always tough to hear that, especially a guy who’s a true Jet through and through — that made his appearance felt. Prayers go out to him and his family. It’s tough to hear because of who he was as person, him being a true Jet.”
