Decisiveness is the Key for Cutter Boley

Kentucky is pushing all of its chips in on Cutter Boley. The quarterback has flashed, but if you take a closer look at the game log, it’s an up-and-down roller coaster.

He performed well in the second half at Texas, completing 10 passes for 160 yards. It was good enough to earn a start against Louisville when he had more incompletions (9) than completions (6).

This season’s story is similar. He followed up a 240-yard, 2-touchdown performance against Eastern Michigan with two plays at South Carolina that resulted in defensive touchdowns. The following week, Boley completed a career-high 25 passes at Georgia.

It’s a small sample size, but through 4.5 games, the Kentucky quarterback has not continually taken steps forward. There is always one or two steps back after he seems to put it together. That trend must stop for Kentucky to have a successful second half of the 2025 season.

Texas vs Kentucky game score: Live updates from Longhorns' SEC road test

After saving its season at the Cotton Bowl, the Texas football team will try to avoid a slip-up in Kentucky.

The Southeastern Conference grind continues for No. 21 Texas (4-2, 1-1) Saturday night as it travels to face Kentucky (2-3, 0-3) at Kroger Field. This will be UT's first-ever trip to the Kentucky campus, and the Longhorns own a 2-0 lead in an all-time series that featured last year's 31-14 win in Austin.

Texas is coming off a 23-6 win over then-No. 6 Oklahoma in the annual Red River Rivalry game in Dallas. With that victory, Texas remained in the races for a spot in the SEC title game and a College Football Playoff berth. But with games against No. 17 Vanderbilt, No. 9 Georgia and No. 4 Texas A&M scheduled for November, the Longhorns can't afford a loss to unranked Kentucky in October.

Big Blue Preview: Kentucky vs. Texas

After its second bye week of the season, Kentucky returns to action this weekend, hosting No. 21 Texas at Kroger Field (7 p.m. ET, ESPN).

The Cats are 2-3 this season and 0-3 in the Southeastern Conference. In its last game, UK lost at Georgia 35-13.

Texas is 4-2 and 1-1 in league play. The Longhorns got a big win the last time out, topping rival Oklahoma 23-6.

This will be just the second time that Texas has ever played in the Bluegrass State. In 1993, the Longhorns lost at Louisville.

When Kentucky was last on the football field, the Cats saw a freshman show flashes of brilliance while getting his first opportunity to get significant playing time.
