Kia Ora from lovely Christchurch. Such a lovely city to visit – everythingâs wonderfully walkable, easily navigable and, at least until you get to the edge of town, completely flat (and those hills are also wonderfully walkable). Itâs a sellout at Hagley Oval tonight and the grass banks that ring the ground are looking pretty full already, with half an hour until the start. Itâs a beautiful ground but completely exposed and as such irredeemably useless in the event of rain – talking of which, there hasnât been so much of a drop since England arrived here on Wednesday, but forecasts suggest that run – and, in cricketing terms, the runs – will end at around 9pm this evening. Weâll wait and see on that, itâs a near-perfect early evening as I type.â

England in New Zealand: Kane Williamson to miss T20 series
Kane Williamson last played for London Spirit in The Hundred this summer
New Zealand batter Kane Williamson will miss this month's T20 series against England but captain Mitchell Santner is back from injury to lead the Black Caps.
Williamson, who has not played international cricket since the Champions Trophy final defeat by India in March, is expected to return for the three one-day internationals against England that follow.
Santner has recovered from abdominal surgery, while all-rounder Rachin Ravindra is back after a facial injury kept him out of the recent T20 series defeat by Australia.
The three-match T20 series between New Zealand and England starts in Christchurch on Saturday, 18 October.
