The NBA broadcasting landscape is set to look dramatically different this year. After 36 years of NBA games airing on TNT, Turner Sports will no longer carry the games. That also means the beloved “Inside the NBA” studio show, winner of 21 Emmy Awards and a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, is undergoing a major transition.
Beginning in the 2025-26 season, “Inside the NBA” will air on ESPN, which announced its long-awaited programming schedule Thursday. Reaction on social media quickly centered around disappointment with a limited schedule in the early months of the season.
ESPN unveils 'Inside the NBA' schedule, format after Charles Barkley voices concerns
After months of speculation about the future format of "Inside the NBA," ESPN announced on Thursday, Oct. 9 what it called a "robust" schedule for its first NBA regular season airing the long-running show.
"Inside the NBA" will air on 20 days during the 2025-26 regular season and serve as a pregame, halftime and postgame show around high-profile games broadcast on ESPN and ABC, part of a new 11-year rights agreement with the NBA beginning this year. The 21-time Emmy Award winning studio show featuring host Ernie Johnson and analysts Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O'Neal will make its ESPN debut with a one-hour pregame show from 6-7 p.m. ET on Oct. 22 ahead of the network's doubleheader featuring the New York Knicks vs. Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs vs. Dallas Mavericks.

ESPN Unveils Robust Inside the NBA Schedule for 2025-26 NBA Regular Season
ESPN today unveiled its robust Inside the NBA schedule for the 2025-26 regular season. As previously announced, Inside the NBA – produced by TNT Sports from its Atlanta studios – will serve as a pregame, halftime and postgame show surrounding high-profile NBA events on ESPN and ABC throughout the regular season as well as the NBA Playoffs and the NBA Finals. This season marks the first time Inside the NBA will serve as the official pregame, halftime and postgame show for ABC’s exclusive coverage of the NBA Finals. Sports Broadcasting Hall of Famer Ernie Johnson hosts Inside the NBA with analysts Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith.
