Spain hailed as strategic partner in Jamaica’s economic development
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, says Spain has played a pivotal role in assisting Jamaica to achieve its economic development goals.
Speaking during Spain’s National Day reception, held on Thursday at the Ambassador of Spain’s residence in St Andrew, Senator Johnson Smith noted that Jamaica has, over the past decade, emerged as a model of sound economic management, fostering an environment conducive to business and investment.
“On that path, it’s important to recognise those who have participated in the process. We, therefore, wish to recognise the important contributions of bilateral partners like Spain and, indeed, Spanish companies for the achievement of our economic and national development goals,” the minister said.

Hotels across the pond are always loved by our readers. New arrival Banyan Tree Veya Valle de Guadalupe shot to the top of the Mexico category with full-bodied scores for location and food and drink, and the Caribbean number one spot was taken by Grenada's Silversands Beach House, liked for its breezy, canvas-shaded suites. In the USA, boutique digs such as Dallas’s Hôtel Swexan and Phoenix’s The Global Ambassador made a serious impression, though it was the skyscraping Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad that hit the big time, with top votes for service and – with front-row views of Manhattan – its rooms.
