MLB division series: How Brewers and Cubs can each win decisive Game 5, plus lineups and analysis

With the American League Division Series decided in an epic finale, the National League Division Series between the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers comes down to one last meeting tonight at American Family Field.

The Brewers entered the series as the favorite — and the NL's top overall seed. But after taking a commanding 2-0 lead, their NL Central rival Cubs evened the series with two wins at Wrigley Field.

Now we're back in Milwaukee — with the winner moving on to face the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL pennant.

We've got you covered with pregame lineups and the keys to Game 5, along with takeaways after the final out.

Cubs tab Pomeranz as opener vs. Brewers in deciding Game 5

MILWAUKEE — Left-hander Drew Pomeranz will start for the Cubs in Saturday night’s winner-take-all Game 5 of the National League Division Series at American Family Field.

Pomeranz, who has thrown five perfect innings this postseason between the NL Wild Card Series and NLDS, has not tossed more than a frame in any of his five appearances.

Time will tell how Chicago sees its path to 27 outs, as manager Craig Counsell called it during Friday’s Zoom. The Cubs have right-handed bulk options in Aaron Civale, Colin Rea and Ben Brown who could follow Pomeranz. Or Chicago could go with a straight bullpen game, as Counsell did say everyone except Game 4 starter Matthew Boyd would be available.
