How Oregon's Dante Moore, Indiana's Fernando Mendoza became unlikely NFL darlings
Louis Riddick details why Oregon's Dante Moore tops his list of 2026 NFL draft QB prospects. (0:42)
NEARLY TWO YEARS ago, on a Saturday night in Pasadena with little to play for between a 7-4 UCLA team and a 5-6 Cal team, Dante Moore and Fernando Mendoza faced off at the Rose Bowl in the last regular-season game.
Moore was capping off a roller-coaster freshman season with the Bruins during which he went from having the starting job, to losing it and then having it again. It was his sixth start of the year. Mendoza, meanwhile, had started his own freshman campaign as the third-string quarterback before taking hold of the gig for the Golden Bears over the last seven games of the season.

All eyes of the college football world will be on Eugene, Oregon on Saturday, Oct. 11 for one of the biggest games of the Week 7 slate — and "College GameDay" will be in town for it.
Sounds like déjà vu? It marks the second consecutive season that Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Kirk Herbstreit and the rest of the "GameDay" crew will travel to Eugene in Week 7. This time around, No. 2 Oregon and Dan Lanning will host No. 7 Indiana and Curt Cignetti for their Big Ten home opener at Autzen Stadium.
The Ducks, coming off a bye week, last played on Sept. 27, when they traveled to No. 2 Penn State for the first signature win of the season. Dante Moore threw the go-ahead game-winning touchdown to Gary Bryant Jr. on the Ducks' first play of the double overtime period to beat the Nittany Lions 30-24.
