“As a comedian, I’ll be like, I’m sure there’s something funny about it. The guy was shot while defending guys, Do you understand how I’m not even writing that as a joke?” the 41-year-old comedian said during his set, a clip of which was uploaded to YouTube.

Kirk, 31, was assassinated during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10. The right-wing activist was the co-founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, a conservative youth movement.
