Mailbag: Like how Ferguson is being used?
(Editor's Note: Time to check the mail! The DallasCowboys.com staff writers answer your questions here in 'Mailbag' presented by Miller Lite.)
I know Jake Ferguson's 34 catches through four games are the most in NFL history by a tight end, but his 6.6 yards per catch is the lowest average among league tight ends with at least five receptions. Do you like how they're utilizing him? Is there a way to increase his yardage? – Fred Harrison/San Diego, CA
Patrik: What I do like is the fact Prescott is taking what the defense is giving him when he's not forced to pull rabbits out of his hat, and that means not pressing unnecessarily and taking the underneath to Ferguson to keep drives going in situations where the offense might be stagnant. I also like the fact the targets give Ferguson a chance to find a groove that was absent in 2024, mostly due to injury, and I believe the monkey hopping off of his back regarding scoring a touchdown might open the flood gates for more to come in that category. Now, do I wish to see more of the peak version of Ferguson that gets into the open field and hurdles a guy or two, or the deep seam catches for touchdowns that he and Prescott were once dominant in doing? Absolutely, but I think those are on the way by virtue of the foundation being laid currently.
Jake Ferguson hauls in touchdown Sunday
Jake Ferguson hauled in 7-of-7 targets for 40 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 40-40 tie with the Green Bay Packers.
Ferguson saw a lot of work on Sunday with CeeDee Lamb (ankle) sidelined for the Cowboys. He was able to haul in all seven of his targets, including one that went for a touchdown. Fantasy managers shouldn't hesitate to start him for the foreseeable future, especially in PPR scoring formats.

Cowboys' Jake Ferguson has shocking fantasy football rank in bounce-back season
The Dallas Cowboys' Week 4 matchup against the Green Bay Packers didn't go the way anyone had hoped.
Instead of getting bragging rights over Micah Parsons, the Cowboys would tie the Packers, in what has to be the most frustrating finish in recent memory.
The results were not what was wanted for Cowboys fans. However, fantasy football fans who have Jake Ferguson on their team are loving what they are seeing this season.
