Sean Payton is on the cusp of an all-time milestone with next Broncos' win

Denver Broncos' head coach Sean Payton is one of the winningest coaches in the history of the NFL. Payton is now at 172 regular season wins, which is tied for the 16th-most in the history of the NFL. Payton will one day have a bust in Canton at the Hall of Fame, and it's clear that he'll likely finish his coaching career with the Denver Broncos.

As head coach of the New Orleans Saints, Payton won 152 games. His Broncos' record is 20-18 through 38 games. And in my opinion, the Broncos are about to take-off soon and finally emerge as the contender that Payton was hired to build.

NFL: Sean Payton's record in October is good news for the Broncos

The Denver Broncos need to make up some ground in the AFC after starting the season with a 2-2 record in September. Fortunately, Sean Payton's history suggests brighter days are ahead.

Payton has coached 19 seasons in the NFL and his teams have never had a losing season after starting at least 2-2, as Andrew Mason of DenverSports.com pointed out on Twitter/X.

And, even better news: Payton's squads historically start slow with a 31-30 record in September, but Payton's teamss are 50-17 in the month of October in his career. That's a good sign as the Broncos approach their four games on deck this month.
