South Carolina State Bulldogs Ready to Face Savannah State Tigers Under the Lights

Football fans are eagerly anticipating an exciting matchup as the South Carolina State Bulldogs prepare to host the Savannah State Tigers under the gleaming lights of Oliver C. Dawson Stadium in Orangeburg, South Carolina. The game is slated for kickoff at 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Fans who are unable to attend in person can catch the live action on ESPN+.

Coming off a narrow 31–24 defeat to Charleston Southern, the Bulldogs aim to regain momentum at home. Under the leadership of head coach Buddy Pough, South Carolina State has demonstrated resilience but struggled with inconsistency. Notable accomplishments include a remarkable 55–41 win over Bethune-Cookman, highlighting their offensive capabilities. To defend their home turf successfully, the Bulldogs will need to tighten their defense and stabilize their offensive plays.

SC State police details Homecoming safety plan

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — South Carolina State University’s police chief advises students, alumni, and visitors to prioritize safety during the school’s 2025 Homecoming celebrations.

SC State Department of Public Safety Chief Richard Johnson thanked supporters and outlined a detailed Homecoming Security Plan. Johnson said the safety of students, faculty, staff, and guests is the department’s top priority.

“Criminal behavior, violence, or any actions that compromise community safety will not be tolerated,” Johnson said.

The plan includes additional security personnel from state, municipal, and county law enforcement agencies, as well as private security.

Officials said technology such as security cameras, call boxes, weapon-detection systems, metal detectors, and a drone will be used to monitor activity. K-9 Officer “Priss” will detect firearms.
