Eagles reunite with former Super Bowl WR amid roster shakeup
PHILADELPHIA — The Eagles have made notable roster moves after losing several players to injury, including bringing back a member of the 2022 Super Bowl team.
Starting edge rusher Nolan Smith, cornerback Jakorian Bennett and wide receiver Darius Cooper were placed on injured reserve, the Eagles announced on Wednesday.
The hope is that all three players on IR — Smith, Bennett and Cooper — will be back around the Eagles’ Week 9 bye week.
In corresponding moves, the Eagles elevated safety Marcus Epps, tight end Cam Latu and cornerback Parry Nickerson from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
The Eagles also added linebacker Lance Dixon, corner Eli Ricks and wide receiver Quez Watkins to the practice squad.
Eagles Reunite with Playmaker No One Expected in Week 4
As the Philadelphia Eagles returned to the practice field on Wednesday in preparation for their matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, GM Howie Roseman and the rest of the front office made a slew of roster moves.
One of those moves was bringing back veteran wide receiver Quez Watkins, who was among three players signed to the Eagles’ practice squad. Eagles fans were shocked to see Watkins back on the team, and they weren’t too pleased about it.
The former sixth-round pick didn’t live up to his potential as a deep-threat option in the Eagles’ offense. It is, however, not an easy feat for a Day 3 pick to stick on an NFL roster for at least four years.
