Hail Mail | What's next for Luke McCaffrey?

The opinions expressed in this article do not reflect those of the team unless specified by a direct quote.

The vibes are much better at the Washington Commanders' facility following their 41-24 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. They're now 2-1 for the third consecutive season and looking to go 3-1 in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1991-92.

The Atlanta Falcons (1-2) are off to an uneven start in 2025, but the Commanders shouldn't be quick to chalk it up as an easy win. They have played the Falcons in each of the last four seasons, and all the games have been decided by eight points or fewer, including the overtime thriller in 2024.

Luke McCaffrey start or sit: Week 4 fantasy football advice

The Washington Commanders head to Atlanta as 2.5-point underdogs to take on the Falcons. Injuries have hurt their offense significantly, as their two best players, Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin are out this week, while running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt is questionable and Noah Brown is out.

That means some backups will need to step up. Last week Luke McCaffrey was one of those backups to do so, as he caught all three of his targets for 54 yards and a touchdown from backup QB Marcus Mariota. Those two will get a chance to hook up again this week in Atlanta.

Below, we’ll go over Luke McCaffrey’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 4.

Forgotten Commanders WR storms back into spotlight with nowhere to go but up

Noah Brown's status for Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders is murky at best. The injury-prone wide receiver isn't expected to feature with another soft tissue injury, which could leave the Washington Commanders with no option other than to throw some inexperienced figures into more prominent roles.

And for Luke McCaffrey, this could be the big audition he's been waiting for.

McCaffrey has nowhere to go but up. The 2024 third-round selection came into the franchise as a work in progress. He only spent two years as a wideout in college, so it was always going to be a step-by-step process. That was fine during his rookie transition, but more is required now.
