Prime Video hires Swin Cash for a unique position — NBA front office analyst – The Athletic
Swin Cash has had a unique basketball career as both a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as a player before working in the front office of the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans for six seasons, including as the team’s senior vice president of basketball operations.
That basketball resume was attractive to Amazon Prime Video. Starting this fall, Cash will appear on air in a front office insider role for Prime Video’s NBA studio show during the NBA season. She’ll then transition to a studio analyst for Prime Video’s WNBA coverage. Prime Video is expected to make a formal announcement on Tuesday.
Amazon hires Cash, Gay, Jackson and Dyer for NBA coverage
Amazon has added Basketball HOFer Swin Cash, former NBAers Rudy Gay and Jim Jackson, and British broadcaster Jaydee Dyer to its broadcast team just a month ahead of its NBA on Prime debut.
Cash, who was most recently the Pelicansâ SVP/Basketball Operations & Team Development, will take on the role of front office insider for Amazonâs studio shows. Her broadcast background includes a stint at Turner covering sport/culture and on-air positions at CBS Sports and MSG Network.
Gay (17 seasons in the NBA) will be an intermittent in-studio analyst, while Jackson (14 years in the NBA) will serve as a game analyst — and both are arriving with burgeoning media careers. Gay has been co-hosting the basketball podcast â7PM in Brooklyn,â and Jackson — who also does work with Fox Sports, Turner Sports and the Clippers — hosts âThe Jim Jackson Showâ podcast. Jackson will also continue to work the NCAA Tournament for Turner.
