49ers worked out Shilo Sanders today

Free agent cornerback Shilo Sanders is getting another opportunity to show an NFL team what he can do.

Sanders, the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders and brother of Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, went undrafted in April and was cut by the Buccaneers in August. He said after the Buccaneers cut him that he hoped for another chance with an NFL team, but he also said he has other interests and sounded resigned to the possibility that he might not make it in the NFL.

There’s no indication that the 49ers are close to signing Sanders, but his workout gives him a chance to show an NFL team what kind of shape he’s in, and hope to get added to a practice squad.

Shilo Sanders works out for 49ers: Son of Deion Sanders among six players brought in for tryout

The San Francisco 49ers are dealing with a slew of injuries just three weeks into the season, and that led general manager John Lynch to consider some additions to his roster. The 49ers hosted six players for tryouts on Tuesday, including one very recognizable name: defensive back Shilo Sanders.

Sanders, the son of NFL legend and Colorado coach Deion Sanders and older brother of Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, wasn't chosen in the 2025 NFL Draft but is looking to latch on to a roster after being waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After the draft, Sanders signed with Tampa Bay as a free agent and participated in training camp and the preseason. He was waived after the team's third preseason game, a game where he was ejected for throwing a punch. Sanders was fined $4,669 for the incident.

49ers work out Shilo Sanders, adding defensive end following Bosa injury

The San Francisco 49ers worked out six defensive players on Tuesday, including two defensive linemen, as they continue to adjust following the loss of star pass rusher Nick Bosa.

Defensive back Shilo Sanders, the son of Hall of Fame defensive back Deion Sanders and older brother of Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, was among the group. Sanders signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent earlier this year but was waived during final roster cuts on August 26.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the 49ers are signing William Bradley-King to the practice squad. The move comes after Bosa suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Sunday's win over the Arizona Cardinals. The veteran defensive end will undergo surgery to repair the injury and likely be placed on injured reserve in a future roster move.
