Gen V season 2 addresses the campus culture wars

'You always want to take the real-world thing and think, How can we put that through the lens of our world?'

Summer vacation is over and school is back in session at Godolkin University, the school for superheroes at the center of Gen V, a YA-themed (though still very much adult) spin-off of Prime Video’s The Boys. Ahead of the show’s season 2 premiere on Sept. 17, Polygon talked with co-showrunner Michele Fazekas about tapping into the political climate, finding new ways to shock audiences, and the plotlines and characters running across the Prime Video franchise.

Gen V season 2 centers on a secret project dating back to the school’s founding in 1967, one that’s highly important to The Boys’ heroes and villains. Fazekas says there is also a connection to the upcoming prequel Vought Rising, which will follow two of the world’s first supes and the corporation that has monetized superpowers. Fazekas says the showrunners and writers talk regularly about their plans.

One of Prime Video’s Best Superhero Shows Is Now Free to Stream Ahead of Season 2 – But There’s a Catch

Prime Video’s hit superhero spin-off Gen V is returning with its long-awaited second installment on September 17, but fans don’t have to wait to dive back into the action. In a surprise move, Gen V Season 1, set in the chaotic universe of The Boys, is now free to stream. The catch, however, is that viewers are going to need the right hardware to access it. Beginning August 21, Gen V Season 1 is available through Sony Pictures Core, a streaming app exclusively found on Sony devices like Bravia TVs and PlayStation 5 consoles. The free streaming window runs until September 21, just days after the new season drops on Prime Video.

What Is Project Odessa in Gen V Season 2?

Vought International’s secretive operations are escalating. A new trailer for Gen V Season 2 has unveiled a major new plot element called Project Odessa. This clandestine initiative appears to be the sinister evolution of the experiments from The Woods. It promises to deepen the connection between the spinoff and the upcoming final season of The Boys.

Project Odessa is a covert Vought program. It was first teased in promotional material for the new season. The project seems directly linked to The Woods, the underground lab from Season 1. That facility focused on testing and weaponizing young supes at Godolkin University.

This new initiative appears far more advanced. Reports suggest it involves industrial-scale operations. The goal likely extends beyond simple power enhancement. According to industry analysts, it may involve global supe deployment strategies.
