The radio shock jock had been slated to return to his SiriusXM show Tuesday morning, after weeks of promos promised a big reveal following swirling speculation that his show would be canceled.
However The Howard Stern Show’s social accounts posted early Tuesday that “Howard Stern will now speak Monday, September 8,” urging listeners to “stay tuned.”
Stern’s return followed a news cycle dominated by questions about his future, after The Sun reported a month ago that his show was set to end because there was no chance that SiriusXM and Stern would be able to come to terms on a new contract.

Howard Stern‘s first show back since a summer break has been delayed to next week, Sept. 8, amid questions of his future at SiriusXM.
The announcement was made in a social media post on Monday.
In August, Stern said that he would be back live just after Labor Day, after taking time off for “refueling.”
On the right, there were rumors that Stern was being canceled, to the point that President Donald Trump was asked about it, even though the host and SiriusXM had not announced his departure.
Last month, the show indicated on social media that Stern would return on Sept. 2, teasing the situation. “Fired? Retiring? Canceled? Bye-Bye Booey? Howard Stern will speak.”

New York City's self-proclaimed "King of All Media," who began his career as a radio host in the 1980s before a move to Sirius satellite radio in 2006, teased he'd address the rumors today on his show SiriusXM Howard100. But now, it seems it's not happening as expected.
"The Howard Stern Show" has not officially been canceled, but Stern's contract with SiriusXM is nearing its end. On Aug. 5, the U.S. Sun reported, citing unnamed sources, that Stern's contract is up in the fall, and while Sirius plans to extend him an offer, he doesn't plan to take it.
