Orioles-Red Sox series preview: A chance to annoy Boston fans again
One week after a shocking sweep of the Sox, the Orioles have another four games to play spoiler.
Was it really only a week ago that the Orioles went into Fenway Park and swept two games from the Red Sox? The second of those games in particular — a ludicrous 4-3 O’s win in 11 — practically sent Boston fans into full-on meltdown mode. In just a matter of days, though, the momentum has shifted for both teams.
The Sox stormed into Yankee Stadium and humiliated the Yanks for the first three games of the four-game set before dropping the finale. The O’s, meanwhile, dropped three of four to the Astros, averting a sweep with yesterday’s win. Pitching told the story for each team. While Boston’s staff was stellar over the weekend, allowing a total of four runs in their three wins, the Orioles’ hurlers were shelled, giving up 26 runs in their three defeats.
OTM Open Thread 8/25: W’s Against The O’s On Deck?
Hello and happy Monday, folks—an especially happy one on the heels of that wonderful series in the Bronx.
We’ve got Baltimore on deck to begin the week. We travel to Camden Yards for a four-game set starting tonight at 6:35 EST, as our Red Sox will look to avenge the two-game mini sweep that unfolded at Fenway a week ago. Beautiful park, Camden is.
Talk about whatever you want down there. Perhaps you should discuss a certain SportsCenter feature that aired over the weekend. It was a story about a certain OTM writer’s dad and sister. Just a thought!

Series Preview: Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles
Three out of four in New York! The only loss coming in the game started by the winner of the coin flip to be sent of the bullpen. And then the loser of that flip really put the game out of reach in relief.
The Orioles embarrassed the Red Sox last week sweeping the two-game series. Now in Baltimore the Sox hope to even things up.
Sugano shut out the Red Sox last Tuesday over 5.0 innings in a game Boston would eventually lose in 11 innings 4-3. The Sox got five hits off the righty who struck out 3 and walked zero, so there was some action. His ERA is almost four and his FIP is another run higher than that. He doesn’t strike guys out. He doesn’t throw hard. That was his only start against the Sox this season. Maybe they have notes? He really doesn’t go over 90 pitches often, just 11 times in 24 starts. If they get a few long at bats it could change the course of the night.
