Fantasy football drafts are all about collecting the best possible values, but we all know those special players exist whom we badly want on our squad.
Whether it's the young, up-and-coming wide receiver on our favorite team, a sleeper running back no one is talking about or this year's big breakout at tight end, these players add an extra level of excitement to the roster construction process.
This round-by-round analysis will give you an idea of what's going through my head on draft day, headlined by those players I have circled on my cheat sheet. Note that I used average draft position (ADP) data from Draft Sharks' terrific Market Index Tool in order to ensure this roadmap would be useful for as many of you as possible.

Keep an eye on quarterback injuries now that we're just a few weeks away from the season. Jordan Love underwent thumb surgery on his non-throwing hand, but is expected to be ready for Week 1. If not, Malik Willis is one of better backups from a fantasy perspective. Meanwhile, Matthew Stafford continues to deal with his back issue and though the team remains optimistic about his Week 1 availability, I've bumped Stafford down a few spots to account for the risk. Unfortunately, Jimmy Garoppolo would be just a desperation option in Superflex formats if Stafford misses any time.

Fantasy football rankings 2025: Sleepers, busts, breakouts by model that called Stroud's slump
NFL players tend to bounce back after posting unusually low touchdown numbers. That is a principle that can be used to gain an advantage heading into 2025 Fantasy football drafts. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had a career-low three touchdowns last season, and he was only targeted six times in the end zone. However, he still ranked inside the top five among tight ends in snaps, targets, catches and yardage. If his end zone targets increase this year, Kelce could wind up among the 2025 Fantasy football sleepers.
Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson is in a similar situation, as he recorded the most targets (88) without a touchdown reception last year. He scored five touchdowns on 10 end zone targets in 2023, and a healthy Dak Prescott at quarterback might make Ferguson a strong addition to 2025 Fantasy football lineups.
