Missouri Gaming Commission selects 2 licenses for sports gambling; FanDuel announces partnership with Missouri sports franchise
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KY3) – The Missouri Gaming Commission selected two companies for its two untethered sports betting licenses.
Circa Sports and DraftKings won the bids. FanDuel lost in its bid for a license. The commission considered seven factors when determining who would get the two available mobile licenses. These are written into the amendment put in the Missouri Constitution:
Later in the day, FanDuel announced a partnership agreement with Major League Soccer franchise St. Louis CITY SC. The partnership comes ahead of the launch of mobile sports betting in Missouri.
“Missouri is home to some of the most passionate sports fans in the country, and we are thrilled to partner with St. Louis CITY SC to introduce our industry-leading product to the Show Me State,” said Mike Raffensperger, President, Sports at FanDuel. “We look forward to supporting the team and engaging with the community as we bring America’s #1 Sportsbook to fans across Missouri.”
DraftKings, Circa Hospitality awarded sports betting licenses in Missouri
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Gaming Commission awarded sports wagering licenses to DraftKings and Circa Hospitality on Friday as the state moves toward launching legalized sports betting in December.
DraftKings, Circa Hospitality and FanDuel all competed for two available untethered sports betting licenses in the state.
The license allows companies to operate online sportsbooks in Missouri without partnering with a casino or professional sports team, and it also allows Missourians to place sports bets on their phones once wagering goes live.
Last year, Missouri voters narrowly approved Amendment 2 to legalize sports wagering in the state. The law calls for sports betting to launch in Missouri by December 1, 2025. Many procedural elements, including licensing, are still being finalized.

Missouri picks DraftKings, Circa Sports for 'untethered' mobile sports gambling licenses
ST. LOUIS — The Missouri Gaming Commission announced the companies that will receive the state's two "untethered" sports wagering licenses.
On Friday, the state announced that DraftKings and Circa Sports were awarded the state's two Sports Wagering Direct Mobile Licenses. That means the companies can operate in the state without partnering with an existing casino or sports team. FanDuel parent company Betfair Interactive was the third company to apply for the license.
“The Commission considered many factors before the two applicants were chosen. We commend Betfair Interactive US, LLC for its efforts. It was a difficult decision, but the Commission is only able to grant two licenses,” Missouri Gaming Commission Chairman Jan Zimmerman said.
