DC Reveals More Details and Variant Covers for 'Batman/Deadpool' #1

[Burbank, CA, August 13, 2025] What happens when the World’s Greatest Detective meets the Merc with a Mouth? Reality folds in on itself. Archetypes collide. Darkseid is. And, somewhere between Apokolips and Earth-TRN666, a sentient street named Danny hums show tunes about a crusading cape! DC Comics today revealed that Batman/Deadpool #1, a 64-page one-shot crossover comic book with a main cover by Dan Mora, retailing for $7.99 US, hits shelves on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

But DC’s Batman/Deadpool #1 isn’t just a comic book crossover between iconic publishers, it’s a metaphysical car crash between two storytelling philosophies. One character broods in the shadows of trauma and justice. The other cartwheels through chaos, breaking the fourth wall and occasionally the laws of physics. Together, they’re forced to confront a threat that doesn’t just endanger their worlds—it questions their very existence as fictional constructs.

DC and Marvel kicked off the summer by announcing the publishers would join forces in publishing two crossover one-shots this fall. In June, Marvel revealed details about the enticing backup stories in Deadpool/Batman #1, releasing Sept. 17. On Thursday, DC did the same, showcasing nearly 20 gorgeous variant covers pairing up heroes (and a couple villains) from both publishers' stable of characters.

DC's book Batman/Deadpool #1 has a newly announced release date of Nov. 19. From writer Grant Morrison and artist Dan Mora (who also drew the main cover and a wraparound variant), the one-shot will find the stoic Batman and fourth-wall-breaking Deadpool teaming up as they "confront a threat that doesn’t just endanger their worlds—it questions their very existence as fictional constructs," according to a news release. Expect it to get very metatextual as it "weaponizes its comic bookiness."

New DC & Marvel Crossovers Revealed in Batman/Deadpool Covers

It’s been over 20 years since DC Comics and Marvel Comics allowed a crossover of their characters. Marvel took the field first, with their upcoming Deadpool/Batman book. Now, DC has confirmed an equally impressive lineup of characters, creators and covers for Batman/Deadpool #1.

The main story teaming the Dark Knight and Merc with a Mouth will be written by comics legend Grant Morrison. Famed for their definitive runs on Justice League and X-Men, Morrison is also known for co-creating the Damian Wayne Robin. Artist Dan Mora, best known for his current work on Justice League Unlimited and World’s Finest, will provide the interior art.
