Giada De Laurentiis says she cried after this famed chef credited her success to 'big boobs' in cookbook foreword

Giada De Laurentiis recently recalled crying after she read the disparaging comments that, she says, chef Mario Batali wrote about her in a foreword for her first cookbook.

The Italian-born chef, cookbook author and Food Network regular joined host Samah Dada on her YouTube show On the Menu on July 29. In a clip from the episode shared on TikTok on Aug. 11, De Laurentiis told Dada she had a story about a person she was “not supposed to talk about” but was “going to.” That person was Batali, who De Laurentiis worked with at the Food Network early in her culinary career.

Giada De Laurentiis claims top male celeb chef told her she’s ‘only successful because she has big boobs’

GIADA De Laurentiis has revealed she was left in tears after comments made about her career by a controversial fellow chef.

The Food Network favorite, 54, opened up about her run in with the chef when she asked him to write a foreword for her first cookbook, Everyday Italian: 125 Simple and Delicious Recipes, back in 2005.

After working with the acclaimed star for years, Giada admitted that she asked Mario Batali to write her forward as, at the time, it would be seen as a stamp of approval for the up-and-coming star.

However, while he agreed, what she got back left her crying over its insinuations.

Giada De Laurentiis is speaking out about a sexist comment she received from a famous colleague in the culinary world.

She recalled approaching Mario Batali in 2005 to write the foreword for her first cookbook, only to be left in tears by his response, which essentially implied she owed her success to having "big boobs."

Giada De Laurentiis' revelation comes years after Mario Batali's career declined due to an exposé that detailed allegations of sexual harassment and assault from four different women.

In a candid new interview, Giada De Laurentiis recalled an encounter where a former prominent male chef, Mario Batali, once told her she owed her success not to her skills, but to her body.
