Mainline Pharmacy wins AAABA tournament after historic game
For the first time in the 80-year history of the AAABA tournament, two Johnstown teams went head-to-head for the championship, and it all played out Saturday at Sargent’s Stadium.
In front of a packed hometown crowd, it was Mainline Pharmacy and Martella’s Pharmacy battling for the 2025 AAABA crown with bragging rights and history on the line.
Brody Roberts ripped a single down the left field line to bring home a run.
Another run crossed the plate on a ground out by Conner McTighe, giving Mainline a 3-0 lead.
On the mound, starter Josh Bryson was dominant, throwing seven scoreless innings, allowing just four hits, and striking out seven.
Blair County athletes help AAABA teams get into big game
JOHNSTOWN — Two Blair County natives helped set up an all-Johnstown championship in the AAABA National Tournament.
Central High School graduate Hunter Smith helped lead Johnstown’s Martella’s Pharmacy into the final with a 5-4 victory over New Orleans at Sargent’s Stadium at the Point on Friday afternoon, while Altoona’s Erik Rhodes played a key role for Johnstown’s Mainline Pharmacy in a 5-4 win over New Brunswick on Friday night at the Point.
Smith, the left fielder for Martella’s, went 2-for-4 and hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning. Boden Fernsler went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Martella’s.
