Michigan football loses recruiting battles for three targets in 2026 class
Michigan’s football program entered Saturday as a finalist for three class of 2026 recruits set to make their college commitments.
However, the Wolverines struck out for all three prospects, with each choosing a different school.
West Lake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian five-star cornerback Davon Benjamin committed to Oregon over other finalists Texas, Michigan, North Carolina and Washington, while Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill four-star defensive tackle Deuce Geralds chose LSU over finalists Oregon, Michigan, Ole Miss and Ohio State.
Loganville (Ga.) Grayson four-star linebacker Anthony Davis Jr. was the lowest-ranked of the trio at No. 432 overall in the 247Sports Composite but was arguably the most important target given the Wolverines’ need at the position this cycle. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder verbally pledged to Ole Miss over Michigan, Alabama and Auburn.
