Former Auburn offensive tackle returns to NFL 1 day after being waived by Atlanta Falcons
Waived by the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday, former Auburn offensive tackle Kilian Zierer got a new NFL team on Sunday.
The Cleveland Browns were awarded Zierer off waivers. Cleveland has the second spot in line for waiver claims and put in one for the 6-foot-7, 312-pound German, while the Tennessee Titans, who hold the No. 1 waiver spot, passed.
A JUCO transfer, Zierer served as Auburn’s left tackle in the 2022 season.
Zierer entered the NFL with the Houston Texans as an undrafted rookie in 2023, but an ankle injury caused him to spend the entire season on injured reserve.
Zierer spent last season on the Texans’ practice squad. He signed with Atlanta on Feb. 12, but he didn’t make it to the first preseason game of 2025 with the Falcons.

Browns claim OT Kilian Zierer off waivers
The Browns claimed offensive tackle Kilian Zierer off waivers, the team announced Sunday. The Falcons waived Zierer, a native of Munich, Germany, last week.
The Browns also announced they waived fullback Troy Hairston and wide receiver Winston Wright.
Zierer did not begin playing football until the age of 16, but with a wingspan of 83 5/8 to go with his 6-foot-7, 304-pound frame, Zierer earned a college scholarship.
He played at College of the Canyons and was the No.1 JUCO prospect at his position, according to Rivals, when he signed with Auburn. Zierer started every game at left tackle for the Tigers in 2022.
