SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — Fire crews were battling a brush fire that was burning in Rancho Bernardo on Friday afternoon. The fire quickly sent large plumes of dark smoke into the air that could be seen miles away.
The fire quickly burned 10+ acres near homes along a hillside with a moderate rate of spread before crews were able to put out the flames using ground and air crews.
Fire crews will remain on scene to mop up any hot spots throughout the night, according to Dan Eddy, Assistant Fire Chief of Emergency Operations at City of San Diego.
