Power outages leave over 10,000 in Newport News and Hampton in the dark
HAMPTON, Va. — A multitude of power outages on the Peninsula have more than 10,000 people in Newport News and Hampton out of power.
Several overlapping outages stretch from the Briarfield area of Newport News northward all the way to Semple Farm Road area. Areas out of power include Carver, Northampton, Big Bethel Road, Sandy Bottom Nature Park, and much of Mercury Boulevard.
Dominion Energy’s outage map says the cause for each of the outages is circuit out or pending investigation. An estimated time of restoration is not yet given.
Most other Hampton Roads cities have smaller numbers of people out of power, with 270 out in Virginia Beach and 133 out in Chesapeake.
Power Outage Affects Nearly 700 in Aquia Harbor, Restoration Expected Tonight
AQUIA HARBOUR, Va. – Nearly 700 residents in Aquia Harbor are without electricity this evening as Dominion Energy reports a power outage affecting 697 customers.
According to Dominion’s outage tracker, the disruption is due to a “circuit out.” The utility company estimates that power will be restored between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. tonight.
The outage was first reported late Saturday afternoon, and crews are currently working to restore service.
