19 First Alert Weather Day: Excessive heat tomorrow; heat index of 104 degrees possible
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Thursday is a 19 First Alert Weather Day due to the threat of extreme heat and high humidity.
With the humidity factored in, it may feel as hot as 104 degrees.
Unfortunately, we won’t have any rain around during the day to cool us off.
In the meantime, tonight will be very quiet, but it’s going to be a lot warmer than recent evenings.
Temperatures will fall into the upper 60s and lower 70s by Thursday morning.
After a break from the rain, showers and storms will return to the forecast on Friday.
A cold front is going to set up shop nearby from Friday through Sunday, and this will be the focus mechanism for showers and storms throughout the weekend.
Intense heat & humidity sparking heat advisories
CLEVELAND â Big heat today, big storms tomorrow and through the weekend. This afternoon's high temps will be in the lower and middle 90s with Heat index readings in the triple digits. Prep early so the afternoon doesn't get dangerous. It's been a couple weeks, so don't let it sneak up on you.
A heat advisory has been issued for the majority of NEO. For more information and signs of heat-related illnesses to look for, click here.
I do have a storm or 2 in the forecast this afternoon/evening but most of us are dry. Different story Friday. Plan on scattered storms building during the afternoon and sliding southeast overnight. Those storms build again Saturday. It looks like Saturday's rain will be more widespread and potentially heavier. That means the flood threat is elevated.
