Transformer fire causes evacuation at KARE 11
GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — KARE 11 was evacuated Tuesday afternoon following a transformer fire on the building's south side.
As of 2:30 p.m., staff were still not allowed to enter the building, and KARE 11 remained offline.
KARE 11 News at 5 p.m. will not air as usual. The next live newscast will begin at 6 p.m.

LAKE CRYSTAL, Minn. — As the owner of an auto repair shop, there isn’t much Chad Volk hasn’t seen.
That said, “you never see everything,” the Crystal Lake auto mechanic says.
“2015 Ford Edge,” Chad says as he lifts the hood on the 11-year-old SUV.
Chad was under the hood replacing the Ford’s cooling fans when he pulled out the vehicle’s airbox.
“My guess it was sitting up in here somewhere, just sitting here for the right move,” he says.
When the air box wouldn’t fit back in place, the owner of LC Car Care took another look.
