Prince George photo released for his 12th birthday
A new photograph of Prince George has been issued by Kensington Palace to mark his 12th birthday.
The photo of the smiling prince was published on social media with a message from his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, which read "Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George!" alongside a birthday cake emoji.
The picture, with a rural setting and the prince in a countryside-style gilet, was taken in Norfolk earlier this year by photographer Josh Shinner.
George, the eldest son of Prince William and Catherine, is second in line to the throne.
There has been speculation over where George will go for secondary school next year and whether he will follow in his father's footsteps and go to Eton College, a private school where entry usually begins at the age of 13.
Kate Middleton & Prince William Drop Striking Prince George Portrait—and He Has His Father's Smile
In advance of his 12th birthday, Prince George has been making royal headlines a lot. The future monarch made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon alongside his mother, Kate Middleton, his father, Prince William, and his younger sister, Princess Charlotte. And while Charlotte undoubtedly stole the show, George's body language during the event spoke volumes.
Then, the young prince made news again as reports surfaced that his mom might break the royal rules for him. (TBD if that happens.) George also appeared with the Wales Fam at Trooping the Colour (where Prince Louis was his mini-me).
Now, Prince George's 12th birthday has arrived, and as expected, Kensington Palace shared a never-before-seen look at the prince. And it's clear he's growing up so fast.

Kate Middleton Frustrated by Prince George Royal Family Ban

Kate Middleton and Prince William have already started preparing their eldest son, Prince George, for his future as king. Once George's father, the Prince of Wales, takes the throne, he will become the heir apparent, and his safety will be of the utmost importance. As a result, Kate and William may be "forced" to abide by a "Royal Family ban," which will mean separating George from his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, in one respect.
As reported by GB News, "There is a royal rule in place that limits which royals can travel together in the same plane." Once Prince George turns 12 on July 22, it's believed he will no longer be allowed to travel in the same plane as his father or siblings. This is allegedly to ensure the protection of heirs to the British throne, should there be an accident.
