National Weather Service issues heat advisory, flood watch in region
DOVER — The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory until 8 p.m. and a flood watch until July 9 at midnight for most of Delaware.
Heat index values caused by hot temperatures and high humidity could reach 106 degrees, the weather service warned. The advisory is in effect for Kent and inland Sussex counties.
Heat-related illness is possible, so the service recommends residents drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Also, Kent, New Castle, Inland Sussex and the Delaware Beaches are under a flood watch, due to a frontal boundary colliding with a tropical airmass, producing widespread showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night, NWS reported.
