The risk of heavy rain in parts of Maryland has prompted an Alert Day on Monday

A warm and muggy night is in the forecast across Maryland. Temperatures settle back into the 70s, with lots of humidity.

Monday is now a WJZ Alert Day, due to a greater risk of heavy rain.

Monday begins muggy, with spotty heavy rain showers during the morning commute. Marylanders wake up to temperatures in the low to mid-70s in many areas. Wet roads are expected in parts of the Baltimore metro during the morning commute. Though morning rain will not be widespread. The chance of rain increases later in the morning, on into the afternoon.

The remnants of Chantal will sweep by Maryland on Monday. While not a tropical system, there will be plenty of tropical moisture passing through. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will produce heavy rain. Some street and road flooding could occur where heavy rain persists for more than 30 or 45 minutes. Rainfall totals will vary from nothing across western portions of the area to up to 4" across pockets of southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore.

Beautiful weekend before storms move into Maryland early next week

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Maryland enjoys sunshine and seasonably low humidity before rain and a muggy feel return next week.

Saturday will be a gorgeous day. High temperatures will rise to the low 90s under mostly sunny skies.

Today looks like a great day to spend outside, but with a very high UV index, sunscreen will be important.

Expect another nice day tomorrow as highs rise to the low 90s under partly cloudy skies. The humidity will be slightly higher, but the huge change will start early next week. Hot weather and high dew points will send heat indices into the upper 90s and low 100s through the middle of the workweek.
